So I took a vacation.....

Well, not a real vacation, but a mental one.  With Christmas, trying to look for a job and taking care of family business it has been a bit crazy and stressful.  So let me share a little something that has helped me get through it.

Crescent Sandwiches!!!!!!!!!
Ham and Cheese Crescent Roll-Ups
Pictures from Pillsbury

Even your teenagers can make them.  All you need are those Pillsbury Crescent Rolls and any kind of meats and cheeses you like.  We went to the grocery store and bought a bunch of different meats and cheeses to see which ones we liked.

Our favorites
- Roast beef and Swiss Cheese
- Pepperoni and Mexican Cheese
- Turkey and American Cheese

But the possibilities are endless.  It's a great snack that the teenagers can make when there home from school, and appetizer for movie night or if your like me, have it just for dinner when your home alone and want something that taste homemade without all the work.

I love food

Sorry Im late again.  I need to set an alarm or not set up certain dates to post! lol.  A few days ago my boyfriend, Scott, made an amazing pot of semi homemade chili.  While I don't know his full recipe, I do know a quote that we would both agree on.....

                                       .

This is definitely a frame-able quote for our kitchen!

Bat Tree

Let's Make A Bat Tree

Good Housekeeping

Sorry that it's late on a friday but I've had car issues.  Here is a super easy and helpful craft for the weekend.

What you'll need:

  • Sticks
  • black and white construction paper
  • black and white markers (even glitter or anything else to decorate with)
  • hole puncher
  • Halloween colored ribbon
  • pumpkin (optional)

1.    Send your kids outside to collect sticks and twigs to spray paint black.  Spray paint them outside, and while they dry cut out some bats and ghost out of construction paper and decorate.  Let them dry too.

2.    Let the kids decorate in any way, just keep the basic shape of bats or ghost.  They can make super hero's, polkadotted bats, rainbow ghost, etc.

3.     Once everything is dried, tie the bats and ghost with ribbon to the branches
(or a tree in your front yard).  You can put the branches in a pumpkin, a glass vase with black stones or marshmallows or even candy corn.

Let your imagination go wild, but most of all have fun and enjoy the time with your family!

Easy Halloween Party cake!

Frankenstein!!!!

It is always nice to make something soooo simple but looks amazing for a party.  Don't you agree?

While searching the internet I came across a cake that is simple but looks so cool for Halloween and it is a Frankenstein Cake.
Monster Cake

It comes from Betty Crocker and all it is is a box cake with a certain kind of food coloring.

What you will need:
  • Box Cake
  • White Frosting (save some white frosting for the eyes)
  • Green neon gel food coloring (Betty Crocker sells it)
  • Black decorating frosting from a tube (or black food coloring and piping utensils)
  • Black Licorice (for the 3D looking eyebrows)
  • Pull apart Black Licorice (if you want to use for the mouth and nose instead of frosting)
It's so easy.

Just bake the cake and while your waiting just mix the frosting with the neon dye to get it to the color you need.  Let the kids help you with this!  Wait for the cake to cool.

Hint - If your cake didn't cook completely flat just flip it upside down.  You can cut the middle raise part of the cake off and feed it to the kids (or yourself).  But flipping the cake will give you the flat part that you need to make it look like the picture.

After the cake is completely cooled, DECORATE!

People at your party will be so amazed, but it was as easy as a making a boxed cake!

Happy Halloween !!!!
